Taking ANYTHING Colbert says seriously in his comedian persona is a big mistake.

That said, I enjoy his show and his book as great comedic social commentaries, but I'm going to have to agree with nurvonic.

Colbert is a funny guy and everything, but as far as being "the most influencial person of 2008" is a bit of a scretch.

as far as other people on that list, i could care less about most of them. the only person who i think should be on the cover is someone who's running for high office right now, someone who has inspired me (a very rare occurance, especially from a politician). but ill say no more.

Well, he didn't actually faint but he had a collision with an Italian player, and it looked like as if he was going to faint.

The great thing about him - you detect it more if you read his book - is that when he jokes about anything, deep down hes dead serious. I mean on the outside he trys to play it off as a joke but some stuff he talks about like religion or haha Baby Carrots, he tends to go off on tangents. I agree that you cant take anything he says honestly, but its nice to see different sides of news and politics, even if its the view of a Irish-wannabe French Uber-left Satirist.

well i love Colbert but most influential i don't think so

maybe the double effect of Stewart and Colbert as an effective social commentary/critique of the rather (to put it nicely) unsuccessful presidency perhaps

and worrying about whether Alizee would be happy about this thread or not b/c it deals with a touchy subject

imho perhaps she would be more upset if we restricted our thoughts just to (allegedly) make her happy
