Anny-Lee (Annily). I think the version in the parenthesis is how it's pronounced and spelled in French.

Just remember that native English speakers are physically unable to pronounce the French 'i'. :-)

From a non-native English speaker, can I ask you how it is pronounced?

Here is a discussion of French phonetics.

http://french.about.com/library/begi...nunciation.htm

The Cap is referring to a bit of a melee that RMJ and some others had on a thread regarding how to pronounce Alizée. I hope he understands that, despite some brusqueness on his part, RMJ was correct in the sense that this vowel does not appear as a sound in a native English speaker's phonetic repertoire. That doesn't mean that a native English speaker can't learn how to say it (which is what I think The Cap thought RMJ was saying), but just that it requires additional effort, rather than just using a sound that exists natively in English. The awareness that this sound does not exactly appear in English is really the first step in producing it correctly (the same holds true for any such sound in any language).

here's another name-related Alizée question: Is her official name Chatelain or Jacotey?

Thanks for the link, it was interesting. Would you happen to have a link to a sound file so that I can hear some examples?

Are you asking about Alizee's last name or her daughter's?
