Intro Music

Welcome and bienvenue to the Alizée America Podcast, dedicated to the one and only, Alizée.

You can find us online at alizeeamerica.com/podcast.

Hello, hello, hello to everyone at Alizée America and beyond. Thanks for listening; I’m your host Ciara. I’ve got a great show for you today; and I think it’s gonna be the best one yet. First off you get to hear me ramble in “Le Mot de Moi”, how fun is that, then you’ll hear another fantastic “LiliNews” segment by Snatcher42. In “Getting to Know You”, you’ll get to hear a very interesting interview from forum member Roman, but what else would you expect there, and  then I’ll talk about the popular threads online in “Latest Discussions”. Finally, I’m including a new segment this week of “Listener Questions”. I asked you on the forum to submit any question you’d like me to answer in the podcast and from the messages I received I think this will be tons of fun. Stick around for “Le Mot de Moi.”

“Le Mot de Moi”

Since I downloaded this recording program and started doing these podcasts, I decided to play around with it to get a little more comfortable behind the mic. So one night I was home alone and started listening to some of my favorite songs, and decided to record myself singing to them. I know, I’m a big geek, right? Well, I found out something about myself that I really didn’t realize before, and I’m gonna share it with all of you: and it’s that I’m not that good of a singer. Now, I never thought I was the greatest singer, but I like to think that I can mimic whatever I’m listening to, like when I learn impressions or sing along with the radio, but I guess I was wrong, because man, it was bad. I apparently can’t carry a note to save my life. It came as quite a shock to me too, because I like to sing, and I sing along with everything, and of course I grew up with my parents telling me I wasn’t bad at it, and that I was even good, but now I know how the rejects on American Idol feel when Simon tells them how horrible they are, and they’re dumbfounded because their family lied to them their whole lives.

And I’ve never done karaoke for real, like at a bar or anything, but I’ve really been wanting to. And a few months ago I even bought an ‘80s karaoke game for the PS2, and have used it with my friends a couple times, but I don’t think I’m ever gonna be playing that again, so that was a waste of 50 bucks. And yes, like if we were singing karaoke at a real bar we only played it while drinking, but I don’t even think that’s a good enough excuse for me to torture people with my lack of skills. So in any case, I think I’ll leave singing in public to the professionals from now on. That includes you, Alizée (if you’re listening which I hope you are), because I recorded myself singing to some of her stuff (like I do almost every single day), and wow. The French words aren’t even the problem so much, but if I combine my bad singing with the French words, well, il n’est pas bon: it’s not good. She sings the English version of J'en Ai Marre better than I do and I know all those words, so that just shows how talented she really is, even though it apparently wouldn’t take much to sing better than me. So basically, Alizée, you rock. Please keep singing, so I can drown out my bad voice with your music being played very loudly.

Next up is “LiliNews” with Snatcher42.

“LiliNews”

Hello everyone. Boy time flies! This is Ben, known online as Snatcher42, bringing you the third installment of this LiliNews segment for the new Alizée American Podcast.

First of all, finally the “Fifty Sixty” music video has been released officially. It was posted last week, May 5th, on Alizée's YouTube profile, on msn.fr, other websites, it's even on TV in Mexico, soon to be in France. Now if you were expected anything radically different from the leaked version, you may be disappointed. It's more or less the same, just with a couple additional special effects and sound tweaks. But at least we get to see it! And remember, there are going to be two more music videos for this song. Until recently we had no idea what they would be, but now RCA Music has released that information in a press release on their French website. The next video will be set to the popular David Rubato remix of the song, and the third and final clip, to the more questionable Rolf Honey remix. That same press release also revealed that the two Fifty Sixty remix CDs, up till now only available as promo discs, have been released today, Monday May 12th, on official legal download websites such as virginmega.fr, which is only available to French customers, and stazrik.com which we can all download from. The RCA article also reveals that these remixes and clips will be supported by a new website and MySpace page at psychedeclips.com.

Now if that wasn't enough, the press release also reveals some future touring plans for Alizée, stating that in September dates will be announced for Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, eastern countries, Mexico, Asia, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and... the United States! Yes you heard that right, the United States. Now keep in mind our country was mentioned in a long list of locations, some of them rather eyebrow raising. But it goes without saying that the thought of Alizée holding a concert in America has become the subject of much discussion on our forums. Where will she go? How many performances will there be? All questions that remain unanswered and only time will tell.

Speaking of tours, I should re-address the Mexican dates which I spoke about in the last installment, as there have been a few changes. Unfortunately Querétaro and León Mexico have been canceled. However to make up for this, an additional date has been added to Mexico City on June 17th. So to review, Alizée will be performing concerts in Mexico City on June 17th and 18th, before moving on to Guadalajara Mexico on June 20th, Puebla Mexico on June 21st, and ending in Monterrey on June 25th. Tickets for the first three events are available right now via TicketMaster Mexico for between 250 and 1300 pesos, which comes out to about 25 to 125 dollars. Tickets for the last two events should be appearing on superboletos.com shortly, though keep in mind that the first few days of each sale are reserved for holders of the Banamex credit card. The dates for Europe toward the end of the year remain unchanged for the moment. As well as a date which will have already come and gone by the time of our next podcast: Moscow Russia at the Operetta Theater this Sunday - the big kick-off of Alizée's first ever international tour!

Also upcoming is an appearance at the NRJ Music Tour in Geneva on June 6th, as well as a radio interview tomorrow, May 13th, on Champagne FM, where hopefully we'll hear more about her future plans. To follow up on a few stories from our previous podcasts, a video interview with Alizée from the Snowhall event has bee posted on Galaxie TV's Dailymotion profile, and a couple more Jeff Manzetti photos have surfaced in the Mexican magazine, Tu.

To wrap up this segment, I'd like to point out the 50/60 Promotion World Contest announcement thread, which should be appearing on Alizée fansites worldwide. This is a concentrated effort by her fans to promote her new single, Fifty Sixty, on France's premiere pop radio station, NRJ. Started by Julien at lilly-town.com, the idea is to send the radio station as many email requests as possible asking for this song. There are templates in the thread for those of you with difficulty writing in French, so there's no excuse not to get to it chop chop!

This has been Ben bringing you the LiliNews for these two weeks. Thanks again for listening, and we now return you to Ciara and the rest of the Alizée America Podcast.

Thank you very much Ben, great job as always. Now it’s time for “Getting to Know You” with Roman. Now I didn’t tell you earlier, but this is a very special interview, we tried something different here. Roman recorded his own answers. I didn’t want to mess up the flow with inserting my own recorded questions, and he did such a great job by himself, so you get to listen just to him for a little while. Well, a long while. But believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

“Getting to Know You”

Bonjour, Ciara. C'est Roman Revell. Well, speaking this is not quite the same as writing it, but I guess if somebody’s gonna say I might as well do it. You’ve got some questions, and I guess I’ve got some answers, so….

What's your name, age, and where are you from?
Well, my name is Roman Revell and that’s the American version. I'm a bit older than Alizée, but I'd really rather not get into specifics. I was born in the state of Oregon, but have lived most of my life now here in California, USA.

When did you first discover Alizée and how?
Mid December 2006 while bored once again, I was surfing YouTube and saw a video with a pretty looking girl on it. ha ha, I figured, what the heck, I'll take a look. I liked her right off, but it took a little while. Within a couple days I was hooked. That first video was the 2003-03-15 performance of “J'en Ai Marre” - a little while after she performed another wonderful performance: “Ella Elle La.” I watched various videos, but I remember that I liked that one and the “L'Alizé” at Top of the Pops best of the first stuff I saw. She was very beautiful, cute, had a great sexy voice and nice moves and somehow all together she easily hooked me. Well, you know how some guys have an idea of their ideal woman, well, I might not have thought about it much before that, but I saw her and thought, she's just my type; so, that of course is not so easily escaped, because escape is not desired. Even though I'd say that the JEAM performance is the sexiest thing I've ever seen, and I mean that seriously, it's not so much that I thought about having sex with her or anything like that, it’s just she's very attractive in a way that's powerful and subtle at the same time. I eventually came to like all her songs and discovered after listening to her for many months that apparently I really just like hearing her voice in any case.

What does your Alizée collection consist of?
I'm a little embarrassed about my Alizée collection because I wish it was so much bigger and that I had a great display case and such like Cooney or somebody. I have almost everything since her return, except recently I still haven't collected two of those remix promo disks. I have many magazines now, but still probably less than half of everything I know of. It's not easy to get a hold of them. It's expensive and they quickly become unavailable. I have some posters on my wall including the huge Mexican Psychédélices poster that's as tall as Alizée (actually both the narrow and wide version). I have a Japanese poster advertising her second album and those cookies - Elise. Yes, I have the Gourmandises marshmallow pillow promo, but really not much of the earlier stuff. There's so much. It's hard to think about collecting it. Sometimes I have just gotten stuff that I really wanted and also some other stuff that was in a set that I got. Anyway, I think I have somewhere around a hundred items and a few thousand dollars spent. Unfortunately I think about half of my money has gone to shipping charges. I'm in the wrong country.

Tell us about your tattoo if you would.
Ah oui. - Starting with the well known iconic photo of Alizée from her second album cover and modeling the fairy wings on the wings of a Corsican Swallowtail butterfly, Roman Revell brought to life in his own flesh this beautiful image of «Alizée comme Fée Clochette» - Alizée as tinkerbell - with the help of Wade Darby, artist and owner of Visions in Flesh tattoo parlor in Sacramento, CA. – Oh yeah, I forgot I was going to continue referring to myself in the third person after writing this. Did you ever see that Seinfeld episode? Nevermind. I blabbered some blabber about it in one of those threads…I can’t read it here (HYPERLINK "http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showthread.php?p=80399" \l "post80399"link). Anyway, I thought that photo of Alizée was really beautiful and amazing and it was iconic. Everyone knew it. It was used as a symbol for Alizée in places (see some of RMJ's wallpapers). I wanted to show my support for Alizée - let the world know how much her fans loved her and also get some attention for us here in the US to let her know that we still exist and want to be with her too. I didn't know what else to do and so I thought to get the tattoo. I didn't know exactly how it should be at first and thought on my arm maybe, but it just got bigger and bigger as I thought about it, especially after I thought about adding the wings which I think is a particularly nice touch that represents Alizée in her own personality nicely (and it's really pretty). Then after seeing Alizée's tattoo and talking to the tattoo artist on the last few days before I got it I said, ok just make it huge. At that point I was almost sure I was going to go see her. I got the tattoo about a week before I left for Paris and it was still peeling when I showed it to her - fortunately not that noticeably. I'm very lucky that when I begged Wade, he had me come in the next day to get it done.

Have you ever met her or traveled to see her perform (what was that experience like)?
I have seen her perform once (well, two shows). I went with Snatcher42 and RMJ to Strasbourg to see Les Enfoirés. It's amazing! It was a really great show! Though, it could have used more Alizée. It was really fun to be in that crowd, though very tiring. We were standing in the standing area for about 5 hours (an hour before the show and 4 hours of show). On the second day I got as close as maybe 6th or maybe more like 8th "row" (just a bunch of people crammed in tightly, can’t really call that a row). I was able to see Alizée fairly close up a couple of times as well and as well as other popular French singers there. There were like 40 performers in all, plus the band and various children. I am glad that I got to see her there as I'll never be able to see her perform that stuff again. Then, of course, I went to see her for the autograph signing in Paris, as I mentioned. You know it’s really difficult to describe what the experience was like to go see her in Paris. That was the first time when I went, in early December. Now that experience…it was difficult, we were waiting around all day. Eh, we had some fun walking around Paris, and on the Champs-Élysées, and go visit the Arc de Triomphe and stuff like that. But, you know when Alizée walked in that room everything was just, was just different; the energy level just went straight up. And, it was just great talking to her, and you know, she was fun, people trying to take pictures of me and stuff. Sure that was great. But you know, really, the few moments of just having Alizée actually speak to me: that was the best part. We didn’t really say much of anything to each other and it was just so quick, you know, to get an autograph and take off, but…That was one of the best days ever, really. You know, it’s hard to think about it, or compare it to things afterwards. It’s just like, when you’re there it’s a certain experience, there’s all these people, and everybody’s so jazzed, and that’s why I know these concerts are going to be really great. It’s just going to be frickin awesome, um, so that kinda goes into the next question…

Do you have plans to see her again during the upcoming tour?

Well, of course! I plan to go to all the Mexican concerts - already bought the tickets. And, I plan to go to Paris for the Grand Rex show and maybe others if they become available around that time, in France or in Paris more specifically. Ever since I found out about Alizée’s last concert tour I’ve wanted to go see her in concert and from really early on, you know, I’ve been thinking about that, so...it’s been so long now, and there’s all these various shows that I really wish I could’ve gone to and I’ve only gone and seen here a couple times, I went in March to Mexico, and you know what happened there.  But, a full-on concert tour of her own, or show, that, that’s gonna be different, so this, whatever happens, you know, if I am able to get into the seats I’m supposed to getting to this is gonna be great.

How did you find Alizée America, when was it, and what is your role with it?

I started searching the net for pictures of Alizée and eventually translations and stuff like that. I ended up at mf-international and alizee-fanpage/forum, and then I came to AAm (I think I signed up Jan 23 2007). I found that there was a large selection of videos to watch with translations right next to them. That was great! I started watching them and then of course I had to go and comment on them. That way I got to talking to the people there. In the beginning I would only go there 2 or 3 days a week and read through an entire thread before making comments on them. I tried alizee-forum, but there was too much and I couldn't keep up with it all; so the smaller post count was part of the reason I stayed at moi-alizee.us. The fan community is so great! There was so much fun and love for Alizée and the other fans - it was such a positive place to be, most people liked Alizée as much as me. I actually have spent most of my time at alizee-forum more recently because they have a whole news forum that is very good, but I continue to find good reason to come here too. I have never been a moderator or anything. I guess I just always feel like I'm just trying to catch up and don't have time. I don't know. So, I'm just another guy. I post some news now and then.

What do you enjoy most about the website (like what do you do the most while on there)?

Now I tend to get involved in certain conversations sometimes. The new pictures thread is pretty good. Actually the communication between people in their planning for this concert tour in Mexico has been better here. You know when you post and you get subscribed to a thread? That's mostly what the deal is. I get emails for all new posts to threads and it's hard not to look at them and respond; so, I'm a little addicted to what I'm already involved in. Maybe in the future if I take a greater role in trying to get Alizée to the US or if she's going to come here anyway, I'll probably end up going through this web site. It has many people from around the world, but it does still have that shade of being "the" American fan site.

What has your reaction been to Alizée's return to the music scene?
Well, that's a little bit complicated. From early on I heard that she was coming out with a new album, but it seemed to take so long that sometimes there was doubt if it would ever happen. From about March or April of 2007 I felt ready for it and then just always wanted her return, but I knew that things would be different. I didn't know if I would like her new music and doubted that it would be as good because those two first albums were so good. We wouldn't have Laurent's music and Alizée would be several years older. Anyway, when she did come back we were all thrilled. But, yes, it was kind of hard sometimes because all the things we talked about before we had to leave behind for the most part because of all the new activity. She is different in every way, though not so different. Fortunately I do like her new music and she's still Alizée. So, it took me a while to reconcile the earlier Alizée with the recent Alizée. For a while I could hardly listen to her earlier music. By returning she kind of took away what I loved while bringing it to me. I think I'm better now and I enjoy all her music now. I even have been able to become more flexible to her personality in a sense. I thought I would not like “Décollage”, for example, when I first heard about it and got the little snippet we got of it. But, then I heard the whole song and I really liked it. I'm not sure why people don't like it so much – guess some of the French fans maybe don’t like it so much – maybe because of the lyrical content? Well, I don't really understand it; so, musically I like it. I like the music, the movement of her voice, the energy, the cute little sounds she makes. I've come to like “Mon Taxi Driver” and “Par Les Paupières” a lot, though maybe my favorite is still “Lilly Town.” I think I'd like her to do “Décollage” as a single just because I'd like to see some of her diversity come out, and well, and it rocks! That could really be cool to see Alizée perform. I always get this vision of certain movements that I imagine her making while singing that. It has been cool that she has done as many performances as she has, though I could certainly do with more and more chances to see her sing "live" you know. I like the recent shows that she did of Hung Up and Love is All because I like that type of performance. We like when she does a unique and energetic performance, and get some dance in there. I might have chosen different songs, but...
Anyway, I really wish I could have been to more performances and I think she needs to have her appearances focus on performances more than interviews, though I like that too. That's sort of supposed to be a treat for a performer that we love, rather than a staple. It's kind of reversed in this case; she does the interviews and not so many performances. Well, especially because in the beginning it was so many times people just asking the same questions.
Ok, I'll try to answer the question. Now that she's back, I've been forced to move along, to move forward with her. However, it's difficult having so little access to her. I want to be a part of her world and move forward with her, you know, to bigger and better things. Alas, it seems likely not my destiny, as is the case with so many others.

What is your favorite Alizée song/performance/interview/photo?
Favorite song: “J'en Ai Marre” - the music, the way she sings, and if one thinks of the dance performances, well, obviously. Interview - like for many others, the 1 Heur avec Alizée was one of them. She was relaxed and just having fun and we got to see a really personable side of her like as if we knew her. The “Méthode Cauet” was good, though still not really the same - I kind of liked that guy while at the same time didn't 'cause he's kinda sleazy. How dare he kiss Alizée! Now, if it was me, well, ok. I liked the Mexican MTV interview. That guy was pretty good. That was fun. Even though they had to translate the whole time and I ultimately had to read translations, I had fun and she seemed to as well. It's sort of like, if she has fun, then so do we, you know? And at the same time she always maintains her modest lady like manners in the interviews. It seems like she has an easy and natural balance. She's like warm sunshine.
Photo? Well, that’s kind of hard to say through audio. There was one, I think she was leaning up against a tree, her hair is kind of falling down over her face a little bit, great smile. That probably describes a lot of photos of Alizée though, there’s so many good ones, you know, I can’t really, I don’t even have a favorite at this point (HYPERLINK "http://moi-alizee.us/forums/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=33708&g2_serialNumber=1"link).Those recent photos from that photo shoot are great. Let’s see, maybe the other is the one I have on my wall from the Japanese cookie thing. She's so perfectly beautiful in that photo.

So, I hope you got some information you found interesting, and I hope this audio program didn’t make my recording too inaudible, and I’ll see you all at the concert! ALIZÉE! ALIZÉE! ALIZÉE!

Fantastic. And yes, I do remember that Seinfeld episode: “George is getting upset!”

Anyway, next up is “Latest Discussions.”

Music

“Latest Discussions”

These are some of the latest discussions for the week of May 11th, 2008. Actually, because I’m running behind this week, and nothing else really interested me, there’s only one I’ll address.

1. The only one. New RCA News. Last week, or maybe a couple weeks ago now, RCA Music/France posted some new info regarding Alizée. I’m sure a lot of you have read through it, but it starts off saying her record went gold in France, and it’s sold 200,000 worldwide. Congratulations there, but of course, we want to see that go up a lot more, as I’m sure they do too. The album ranked in France, Latin America, Russia, countries of the east, Belgium, Switzerland, Taiwan, and more. Also, looks like she has an upcoming endorsement deal in Latin America for a new cell phone brand or something like that, so that’s fun. Then the good stuff. It confirms some of the dates for Russia, Latin America, and Europe for her upcoming tour, but also mentions something that has sparked quite a bit of discussion, and it’s that new dates will be announced for the following countries: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, eastern countries, Mexico, Asia, U.S. and of course France, Belgium, and Switzerland. Did I say Franch? Maybe. Oh well. My voice is getting kind of hoarse today, sorry guys. But, What, what, what??? The U.S.? Well, we certainly hope that this means she’s going to be performing here sometime soon, but it’s hardly any sort of confirmation of such an event. The mere mention of a U.S. tour has lots of people talking about where a concert or concerts might be located, but I don’t know, it’s pretty much all in the air at th-, up in the air at this point..or it’s just in the air too, whatever. There’s New York , LA, Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, Branson, MO, which is my pick, and don’t forget places in Canada. The 5 people there, I mean, they shouldn’t be left out either, right? I mean, it’s all speculation at this point, but at least it has caused a spark in the fan community and maybe that’s what RCA is looking for when and if they decide to actually hold a concert here. I know there have been small movements to get radio airplay and more publicity for Alizée here by her fans, but it’s hard to get her promoted here for a lot of reasons, and that makes holding a concert that much more questionable to me, because other than us here, who knows how many people really like her or would go to a concert. Heck, I know I’d go. So if anyone wants to go ahead and plan on buying me a ticket and/or plane ticket, well, feel free to do so, cuz I won’t object to that. And I’d like to think that any open-minded individual that happened to hear her music, in French or not, would want to go see her if she were performing in their town or city, but just like everything, that’s just wishful thinking. I guess to let her know of her American fan-base we can bombard her MySpace like the Mexicans did, but they got their concerts and they’re STILL doing it, so that’s kind of not fair to me. And not just them, I mean, if it were some other country I’d be talking about them, so nothing against Mexicans, you guys, you know, viva la Mexico, but I don’t know why people can’t just be like, “hi, love your music, wish you’d come here, bye” and leave it at that, instead of posting “IheartAlizee” a gagillion times down her page, like she didn’t get it the first time you wrote it. I mean, I’ve obviously become obsessed with her enough to devote my time to this podcast, but you don’t have to listen to it if you don’t want to, but if you want to visit her page all you see are those obsessed people and their serial posts. I don’t know, that’s just me, so sorry if you do that, you can do what you want, but that annoys me so if you want to stop, that’d be great. Sorry about that rant, but to get back on topic, if there was a concert in the U.S. that’d be absolutely amazing and I would definitely be going to that, as I know many of you would, and possibly others if just given the chance, so if anybody’s listening that makes those decisions, please have a concert here and/or Canada. You know you want to. Come on, it’ll be fun!

“Listener Questions”

Sir Wood asks: what’s your major and what sort of career are you pursuing?

Well, Sir Wood, I’m majoring in English with an emphasis on Professional Writing, which is the technical side, and I’m minoring in Geography. I’m pursuing a career in marrying rich and traveling the world.

JCC asks: if you could be a bird, what bird would it be?

I don’t think he asked it like that, but that’s how I said it. Hmmm…I originally thought about being a Hyacinth Macaw, the largest, most beautiful blue parrot in the South American rainforest, but probably just something simple like a Mockingbird because like them, I like to mimic the songs of other “birds” or singers, what-have-you, often loudly, and it can be pretty annoying, kind of going along with that karaoke deal. I guess you gotta stick to what you know.

Infatuated asks: have you ever been treated with aversion or distrust when telling friends how “into” Alizée you are?

The answer to this one is yes and no. For the last 6 months after discovering Alizée, I’d make new friends and tell them about her and for the most part people seemed cool about it, and one of my friends now had even just been in France for school and had heard of her there, so that was a good sign, but either they don’t care about the level I’m into her music or they don’t know really know the extent of it. I just met someone the other night that overheard me talking about my podcast and I of course had to explain what was so special about her for me to do it, but as I was telling him, it was my turn to bowl again and I got distracted. Oddly enough, the only person whose opinion really matters about this new hobby of mine sees it as a waste of time, so it has its good points and its bad. But, it’s safe to say, most of the people we know think we’re weird, and we probably are, so I guess that’s life.

Ok, I’m gonna feel stupid if I pronounce this wrong, so sorry, but Ggin asks: since a couple more females have joined lately, what draws females (besides just Alizée) to this forum, how do you deal with the testosterone on here, what makes some of the more active females hang around when others go quickly, and what are the forum members doing right/wrong to make female welcome here?

Ok, well, what draws us here besides Alizée…I guess because it’s “the” American fan site, that’s the main thing, because if it weren’t about Alizée I know I wouldn’t be here. I mean, I’m not really the type of person to join these places but the site itself is appealing with all the info and videos and stuff and she just rocks. The testosterone, well, most of my friends have been guys, so if there’s something posted that’s geared more towards guys, I’ve just learned to ignore it. I mean, if something bothers me, it’s not because you wrote something only using your hormones, which might be the case, but it’s because you probably said something that generally annoys me, whether it’s sexist or not. The bantering between people is another thing though, but if we were on a female-oriented site, well the posts would probably sound a lot meaner actually, but it does get old sometimes watching virtual pissing contests online. I’m not sure what makes all the other females hang around, but I’m still new and just haven’t found anything else better to do yet. I mean, when I found this place it was winter, and cold, and snowy, and going outside was not so much of an option, so I got really addicted to the internet. Since it’s warming up finally, well, we’ll just have to see. So anyway, I guess most girls just have lives, and you guys, and unfortunately me, don’t. Finally, I don’t know if you’re doing anything right or wrong to make females welcome, but as long as you’re open to that prospect then, you know, if they want to come they will. One thing though, I think you guys gossip about her more than we do, so maybe don’t do that because that makes you look weird.

Chommpers asks: what is your view on the new album?

Glad you asked. My opinion has actually changed from when I first posted about it months ago. I wasn’t that into it as a whole originally, but I also had just gotten used to the first two albums, so the new one was like “whoa!” I had a few songs I liked right off, and I had a couple that I didn’t at all. And I didn’t listen to it as much or with as much attention as the older stuff, but it was always in the background on a loop from first to last album. And after starting the podcast, I actually took a break from Alizée for a couple weeks, because I didn’t want to get too burnt out or anything. When I came back to it, though, I had a different perspective on Psychédélices. I don’t know why, but I just heard it completely different than I had before. It was its own album. It wasn’t just the third set of songs down my playlist, but it finally stood on its own. I still prefer some sounds in certain songs to others, but I like all the songs, and even the two that I didn’t before. They did have to grow on me, but just because you don’t like something right away doesn’t mean it’s not worth liking. It was just like a good wine or something, an acquired taste. That may not bode well for record sales, but the album is good. I mean, it’s great. And I’m glad she got to make it and do what she wanted, and she did a fantastic job.
