Here's a freeware I use all the time.... it's for creating thumbnails of pics. If you have PhotoShop or similar program this does it automatically when you open the pic with the program, but this freeware does all the thumbnails you want all at the same time. This is the easiest way, Just drop a pic or ton of pics in the window of this freeware program, and it does all the thumbnails for you... as simple as that. (for Macs)

Here's a couple of my favorite freewares... in advance for the new OSX Leopard. I use these on my laptop, and they're very cool.
1) The first one allows you to have up to 3-windows all by the click of your mouse or the touch of your hand (similar to Leopards Spaces except Spaces will have 4 windows). I use one window to brows the internet, one with anything I'm working on Photoshop, and one to keep Windows XP open just for show since I hardly use it, or anayhting else... VirtueDesktops Freeware http://virtuedesktops.info/ Leopard's Spaces http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/...es/spaces.html 2) The second one allows you to view your screen upright regardles of which way you tilt your laptop screen... Very cool. http://www.osxbook.com/software/sms/smsrotated/ Here's a small sample of the VirtueDesktops, set to motion... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6uvQTTPr9Rw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6uvQTTPr9Rw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Small sample of how SMSRotateD Freeware works on a laptop... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0r0rX4ff-yM"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0r0rX4ff-yM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

All the newest Powerbooks and MacBook Pros (laptops for Macs) have a “Sudden Motion Sensor” for the hard drive. This is there to stop the disk from spinning if the computer senses that it is being dropped. This is done to attempt to save your data. But, what fun is a feature that you can only use when something goes wrong? Thats where these freewares and other programs come in play... Like there's a program that uses this 'motion sensor' in laptops to apply an alarm that goes on when activated and the laptop detects movement. Not only does it activates an alarm, but also disables the computer by activating a password protected feature. Cool ha...

XnView is a fantastic, completely free image viewer and cataloguer, very similar to ACDSee (which is not freeware). I also recommend Grisoft's AVG AntiVirus - the Home/Personal edition is completely free and I've found it to be more stable and smoother running than ANY of the "big name" anti-virus programs.

I downloaded GIMP for a photo contest on this site (didn't win). I still haven't really gone though a tutorial for it, though that's definitely required. It's a royal pain in the, well, it's difficult to figure out what to do when you're new to it. Still, it was better than what I had. It's not hard to find. Here's my recommendation: allSnap for Windows. I've used it on my work PC (when I had one) and I use it on my home PC - Windows XP Professional and Home editions. It works fine as far as I can tell. It makes it easy for you to align a window with either the edge of the monitor or other windows when dragging a window around. I love it! I use version 1.30.6 http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~iheckman/...p/asnp1306.exe
