Corsica
Well, after Getchell's (Joseph Jacotey's) web page with his photos disappeared, I broke down and added him as a MySpace friend -- I was reluctant before, because I'm not a photographer and he must get lots of contacts from people trying to reach Alizée through him, and I'd prefer he not think I was one of them, which I'm not.
No, I want to reach his homeland through him. His daughter is a grown woman, I can contact her directly, no need to go through her parents. Anyway, I downloaded a number of his photos of Corsica, plus a few others that are just plain awesome, and have been sort of meditating on them trying to understand why the island calls to me so. There are plenty of gorgeous places in the world with Mediterranean climates (hell, I live in one), so why does that one in particular sing to my blood? The only thing I can sense so far is that it's a powerfully magical place, as if the whole island is a talisman. But there are other places like that, too. In the end, I'm going to have to go there and spend some time there, probably several months, to understand this. But in the meantime, if anyone who has visited Corsica would like to share their experiences, I would appreciate it very much. Meanwhile, here's Getchell's MySpace page; browse the wonderful photography and enjoy! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=267454253

BTW, you should watch the Sept a Huit interview when you get the chance (surely today it'll be in the usual spots), as they follow her to Corsica (that's where they interview her with her grandmother), and back.

It was interesting to see the grandmother, too. I've been curious about that familial relationship for some time, for a couple of reasons.

I recently uploaded all my pics from Corsica to my website. The index is still majorly under construction, which is why I haven't advertised it, but if you want to look at the photography, here it is:

Great video too Snatcher. I like how you captured that CAT sleeping behind the car. That's one tired French kitty.
