Irish youth can be quite ignorant of things they don't know. Hopefully, it's something people grow out of.
Things are probably the same here in the USA. The only thing going for us here is a population of 300 million. If you can win over even a small percentage of people here it still can be potentially a significant number.

I’ve only been able to win over one friend, and I consider my friends pretty open-minded. It’s not the French language that bothers them. Believe it or not, it’s the dancing! It reminds them of artists like Britney and they don’t like her. They seem to favor male rock bands.

I think many guys see rock music as a male oriented genre and shy away from female pop artists. They may admit they are "hot", but won't confess to listening to them. It seems quite silly to me...
